PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
Senior Health Care Assistants play a crucial role in the well-being of many islanders and the running of the team. This role within a fast-run business is of high importance. We are looking for a self-motivated team player who can help support the function of our team. The ideal candidate is reliable, uses creative solutions to problems and are able to easily communicate with the team. Additionally the purpose of this role is to support the management team with absences within the business.​

DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES OF THE ROLE: ​​
A Senior Health Care Assistant plays a crucial role in the running of the service which means the responsibility of the role is not to be taken lightly. Responsibilities include:

Updating and maintaining client records.
-
Communication with other professionals.
-
Updating care management system.
-
Other tasks requested by Directors or Team Leader as requested.
-
Personal care (including more complex tasks).
-
Social support.
-
Meal preparation.
-
Light cleaning.
-
Overseeing the work of HCAs.
-
Reviewing clients’ care needs on a regular basis.
-
Delegated nursing tasks.

ADDITIONAL MANAGERIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:

A Registered Manager plays a crucial role in the running of the service which means the responsibility of the role is not to be taken lightly. Responsibilities include:
-
Develop, train and support the team to ensure they meet the high standard of customer care expected.
-
Keep up to date with relevant legislation and ensure that regulations, policies and procedures are followed.
-
Provide efficient and effective support to Carers, Clients and relatives.
-
Ensure that statistics, records and reports are maintained to complete the statutory data required.
-
Develop and manage relationships with stakeholders involved in the Client’s care.
-
Undertake out-of-hours duties, arrange cover for shifts and cover shifts where necessary in the event of staff shortages.
-
Work with senior management team to reach financial targets.
-
Ensure all processes are accurate, robust and compliant in line with the Jersey Care Commission regulations.
-
This specific Provide timely, regular and informative communication and feedback to proactively build and develop meaningful relationships to create an open, honest and transparent culture.

Take responsibility for comments, compliments and complaints for the service, ensuring these are collected and passed to the relevant person in a timely manner.

Identify safeguarding issues and report these to the Safeguarding Partnership Board.

Conduct regular debrief exercises to reflect on and improve working practices.
-
Support opportunities for continuing professional development, providing consistent recognition and praise.

Manage all employee relation matters, with advice and guidance from the HR Advisor where necessary.

REQUIREMENTS FOR AN IDEAL CANDIDATE OF THE ROLE:

Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels.

Well organised - with accuracy and timely completion of work.
-
Good administrative skills are required.
-
Ability to adapt to a variety of work on a number of tasks and changing priorities. Flexible, with the ability to work to time pressures and react calmly to changing demands.

To be able to seek out and follow external legislation, policies and procedures that are applicable and follow them effectively.

Works well as part of a team and recognises the importance of doing so.

Clean DBS.

Entitled or Entitled to Work Status (Min. 5 Years Residency)

Level 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care and Medication are essential.

Previous experience in a similar role is preferable. Those who do not have prior experience must have a willingness to learn.

A clean driving license and vehicle is preferable.
